Hey there!

Thanks for checking us out.

As past students, we have seen many students struggle to get into Medicine.

The truth is that the hardest part for most students is to score an interview, and once an interview is scored, chances are so much higher.

You see, you need a high UCAT score to successfully attain an interview. If you don’t achieve an interview, you’re essentially out of the running for Medicine. It sounds harsh, but is true. I personally have a number of friends who I believe should have attained a spot in Medicine based on their ATAR and personality (interview), but were unable to showcase that because their UCAT score was below the cutoff. Furthermore, there are students who were able to get a spot in Medicine primarily because of their interview skills, with a lower ATAR. This shows the absolute importance of achieving a high UCAT score.

I believe that we can help you, both through this website and the books. But before I show you how, I want to tell you a bit of a story.

Once upon a time, in the far away land of Australia, a young girl was in her final year of high school. It was the year 2012, a time where the UMAT was huge and scary, and although many brave souls chose to battle it, few emerged unscathed by its fiery scores. Now this particular girl, after practising one full battle at the start of the year, shoved the daunting UMAT to the back of her mind, until two weeks before the battle was to be. She decided to try more practice battles, but lost. And lost consistently. Now, as the time drew near, this girl realised that in order to do well in this battle, she had no choice but to do things differently. She found a way of tackling the UMAT that few before her used, and caught the beast by surprise, scoring a hundred percentile. And everyone lived happily ever after. While the UMAT is now the UCAT, little has changed in terms of the required approach.

Now, we’ve noticed that many students have two major issues in their approach to the UCAT:

Firstly, the focus of majority of students’ preparation is wrong. Put it this way: imagine if you were given an exam at the start of your final year, before you had been taught anything, and told that this would determine your final score. As ridiculous as that sounds, the truth is that this is how most students tackle the UCAT. They tackle question after question before considering the actual methods behind the questions. And on the day of the actual exam, they continue ploughing through the exam, unable to draw on any knowledge of methods and steps in solving them. It’s no surprise that many people don’t finish the UCAT!

Secondly, students often prepare frantically for the UCAT, becoming caught up in the flurry of people charging through practice material, or become left-behind the masses and feel that there is no hope because they are so far behind. I personally was in the latter category. However, both groups often have one thing in common: they feel negatively about the UCAT. It’s easy to become demotivated and lost in preparation, whether you are doing consistent preparation or not at all. When scores aren’t as high as expected, or people are doing better than you, it can be hard to push through the negative mindset.

These two issues cause a huge problem because people who would be brilliant doctors are losing out on places in medicine.

We decided to tackle these issues head-on.

The first issue can be addressed by an innovative and completely unique preparatory course. Instead of focusing on practice questions, we focus on the METHOD behind the questions, providing a framework of further preparation and understanding of the UCAT. How? We break down each sub-test of the UCAT into various categories of questions. In each, you receive identification features and then a method of solving such questions. This means that the process of solving UCAT questions becomes a checklist-type process, rather than having to remember the questions that you have done and trying to relate it to the problem at hand. Check out our UCAT Preparation Course for more details!

A drawback of preparation material is usually the price. We all know how expensive UCAT preparatory material is, and this is another issue in the preparation for students. Our vision is for all students to be able to access these materials without having to scrounge around for spare cash in order to afford them. As a result, we've kept a comprehensive 3-hour course to $30; that's $10 per hour, and you're able to watch it at any time!

On behalf of the entire team, all the best for your studies, and we can't wait to see you on the wards!
