In most commercial preparation programs, most of the learning is based on questions (and their detailed solutions) – this is mainly how they have described it. However, this book is based more on how the main author learnt to tackle the UMAT; she was desperate to find something that would work quickly (because she only prepared vigorously a couple of weeks before the exam), and found a unique way of categorising questions and figuring out tricks. This book elaborates on the ways in which she tackled the questions, and provides a systematic checklist-type method of figuring out the best way to answer a question, presenting the logic of the choices. Once the correct tactic is found, a step-by-step method of using the particular tactic to work through the question was added. Furthermore, unique preparation tips and ways to look at the UMAT as a whole are added.
Through this systematic approach, the main author managed to finish off all questions with ample time in the actual exam. This book focuses more on the method of finding out which tactics to use and how to use them effectively, rather than questions and solutions, which can be accessed from numerous places. Nevertheless, a full practice exam (with fully-worked solutions) has been added, including numerous examples scattered throughout the text. The total resource is more than 150 pages!
The usual approach and this approach is very different, and has proven to help students drastically. That being said, this book can complement any practice questions you can get your hands on.

Ultimately, the UMAT is a ranking system. In order to succeed, you must find unique ways of tackling problems, thus gaining an edge over others.
